Herobrine Rises Description
Josh and Andre, ten-year-old twin brothers, use their father’s virtual reality lab equipment to play Minecraft as if they were actually in the blocky world. With access to their dad’s supercomputer at the government lab where he works, they hack into a password protected server, the one created by Notch himself, that is rumored to contain the only version of Minecraft with Herobrine actively running in the program.
What they find is not what they expected.

I've been looking for books my 8-year-old third grader would find interesting. He's a very capable but reluctant reader, and obsessed with Minecraft. I read a lot of reviews for Minecraft-themed books and discovered they are really not appropriate for kids as young as mine. I bought Herobrine Rises and skimmed through it before giving it to my son. It's kid-appropriate (no swearing or graphic violence) and the storyline was actually intriguing (with a fun, creepy twist at the end). I handed it to my son and he read the whole book cover-to-cover, without setting it down. The book is in short chapter format, and a quick read (took my 8-year-old an hour or so). I'm hoping to find similar books to share with him in the future.
