Dark Lycan Description
“The erotic, gripping series that has defined an entire genre” (J. R. Ward) continues as #1
New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan links the fates of two strangers bound by a secret in the shadows of the Carpathian Mountains…
Tatijana of the Dragonseekers spent centuries encased in ice with her sister, trapped in limbo between life and death, never speaking to a soul other than those who tormented her. Now, she has been freed from her frozen prison by an unknown descendent. Awakened in human form, Tatijana yearns to explore the modern world in which she now lives—a world with more mysteries than she is prepared for.
Fenris Dalka has returned to the Carpathian Mountains after a long absence to be with his brother. He is scarred by centuries of battle, and every hard-won victory. But the real reason for his return home could prove deadly if discovered by the wrong man—or woman. Upon his arrival, he is compelled by a beautiful and enigmatic stranger who carries the scent of fresh earth, of forest, of the night itself.
In time Tatijana and Fenris will discover all that unites them—their secrets and pasts, their predators, and the hot flush of passion that stirs their souls. Yet just as surely, seduced into the silvery darkness of a full-moon night, they’ll also discover everything ancient and evil that exists to destroy them.

Every single time I tell myself I am done with this series, something ends up pulling me back to try just one more. And every time, I regret it. In this case, Christine Feehan promised the beginning of a trilogy surrounding the long awaited Skyler and Dimitri pairing. True, this is not technically their book, but their HEA arc begins here. Feehan has been dropping little snippets of this couple for-ever. I have no doubt the promise of their story will drive even reluctant readers to pick up this book. And they will regret it too.
The Skyler - Dimitri promise is real. We do get to see them finally moving toward their romance. At least, I can tell you that was not a tease. But I can also tell you that I was bored to tears and I had to force myself to finish the book. (P.S. Apparently, S & D fell in love off page. They were all "my love" and "beloved" to each other. I was like, wha?)
The hero of the book is actually Dimitri's brother, Fenris. He has been away from the Carpathian people for centuries. While out hunting vampires, he fell in with a pack of Lycans and exchanged blood with them, turning him into a hybrid of the two species. The hybrids, AKA Sange rau, are more than the sum of their parts. They are stronger, faster, and nearly impossible to kill -which is a real problem if they turn vampire. So the Lycans have an elite team to track them and wipe them out. They don't know the difference between Capathian and vampire, so Fenris must keep his hybrid blood a secret.
He is tracking a vampire hybrid (I refuse to call them Sange rau because I grew so sick of reading that in the book) when he stumbles across Tatijana. She is one of the Dragonseeker aunts who were rescued from the caves where they were trapped by Xavier.
While this book started off well, it was essentially nothing more than a short story glued together with several neverending battle scenes. There was hardly any character or plot development and while it was great to see old favourites it wasn't like Dark Celebration which I loved. There just wasn't enough plot! Unlike the majority of fans, I actually loved the last book, Dark Storm as it was a proper Amazon adventure and the hero was lovely, unlike the awful de la Cruz brothers who I was getting so over. I know the ending was a bit lame but the majority of the book was great. With this book, I know it is part of a trilogy but this was her first book where she really hasnt wrapped things up properly, or at all. It is almost like you can see the road map ahead for the next two books and I just hope they are not as predictable as this one - conversation... long fight .... take some blood... sleep ... conversation ... long fight... blood .... long fight.... short conversation ...the end.
I was also a little annoyed about how Skyler and Dimitri appear to have fallen in love and accepted their relationship off screen. This would have been a great plot to see how this happened and hopefully Christine will go back in time a bit in her next instalment.
I did have high expectations for this book which is probably why I am disappointed. I will definitely be reading Skyler and Dimitri's book, and hope Dimitri is a bit more exciting in the next book that he was in this one. I know he wasn't centre stage in DArk Lycan but it did come across as a bit two dimensional! Zev seemed a more interesting character and hopefully his romance with Bronnie is a bit more exciting on the plot side than this one!
