I received this book as a gift. I was a bit skeptical as nothing we've read so far worked. This is a book that actually gave me some common sense advice that was easy to understand and put into practice. After being at the end of my rope with my son's behavior, I felt there was nothing I could do that would make a difference but thankfully this isn't the case. As a dad of a "challenging" 7 year old boy, I now realize that we're not the only parents out there facing these issues and there are steps we can put into place that will make a difference. After a week, I already see a difference in my son's behavior and in us as parents. I'll recommend this to my friends. Good parenting advice and hope at last! (It didn't hurt that I got some good laughs while reading it.)

I am going to get a copy of this book. I borrowed it from our library and let me tell you, 2 days later I am nearly laughing out loud at my son's antics now. I started reading this and using some of the early techniques, stuff like sorry you feel that way/upset by that and walk away. By day two I had read up to not engaging my little fighter in a fight. I answered a question once and didn't repeat my answer and refused to answer him again as long as he was ranting and raving and carrying on. He didn't ask for a clarification in my answer, he just automatically assumed I said no. What I really said was he couldn't play XBox until other things at home were done, like cleaning his room and making his bed. 5 minutes later he was screaming I wasn't listening to him and he hates that stupid book and it's full of lies. HA! Proof it's working all I have to do is stick with it. 10 minutes later he has cleaned his room and is now apologizing and telling me what he's apologizing for. Earlier in the day my Hubby said something along the lines of I realize that upset you and I am sorry you feel that way and Hubby walked off. Our son shouted for all the world to hear, "Oh my God she has you doing it, too!"
