Escaping Home: The Survivalist Series, Book 3 Description
When society ceases to exist, who can you trust?
After the collapse of the nation's power grid, America is under martial law - and safety is an illusion. As violence erupts around him, Morgan Carter faces one of his most difficult decisions yet: whether to stay and defend his home, or move to a more isolated area, away from the prying eyes of the government. He and his family are hesitant to leave their beloved Lake County, but with increasingly suspicious activities happening in a nearby refugee camp, all signs point towards defecting. Morgan and his friends aren't going to leave without a fight, though - and they'll do anything to protect their freedoms.
From the author of the hit survivalist novels Going Home and Surviving Home, Escaping Home describes the struggle to live in a world with no rules, and how, sometimes, the strength of family is the only thing that can pull you through.

Not because this one was that bad...but, because it's not a complete book. It just kinda stopped...instead of ending at a natural pause in the story line.
Here's the ending, there's no spoiler in this:
"That's a good idea. Send a small security detail with them just in case..."
"Excellent. So, a little more intel and we'll get a plan in action. When do you want to start?"
"Soon as you get that marine dressed."
I turned the page, and nothing more. That was the end. Right in the middle of an ongoing development. I hate that. Sorta like those authors who are selling a chapter at a time for 99 cents.
I was going to give this a 3 star rating initially. It was still good enough to recommend, but there was a drop off from the other books. Quite a bit slower. In fact, I found myself skipping some of it. Still good enough to keep me interested tho. Basically, a solid 3 stars. The other books were solid 4 stars.
Until that ending. I took off a point for that.
Wait for the next book, and buy them both together. Hopefully the next one will have a more natural ending point and you wont feel a little cheated. Still recommend the series tho.

The first two books had so much promise....excitement, fast paced action, & suspense. "Escaping Home", the third book in the series, had me scanning over more than a few pages just trying to get to the action. By the time I was halfway through, I would've welcomed any kind of action: maybe a raccoon invading a garbage can or a deer running in front of one of their vehicles, anything. Seriously, I would have welcomed either of those scenarios just to break up the page after page monotony that is this book. I hate to say it after how much I enjoyed the first two books but "Escaping Home" is a "snore fest". I'll probably buy the next book in the series but if things don't speed up, that will be it for me. I gave this one 2 stars simply because I enjoyed the first two in the series, otherwise, it would've only gotten 1 star.
