Let me start by saying, I have read all of Iris Johansen's books and have always enjoyed the Eve Duncan series more than any of her other works. Even though she had an element of the "unbelievable" to her stories, I could get past that because I enjoyed the characters and the way they were developing. That being said, I'm done. This trilogy should have barely filled one book, let alone 3. Ms. Johansen must really be out of ideas. Page after page of the same useless dialogue. The same conversations repeated between different combinations of the characters over and over again. Joe was completely missing in this story except to give people dirty looks. Jane was front and center, but all she did is act like a brat, causing everyone to have to watch after her instead of looking for Eve. And, the dialogue and expressions Johansen uses in all the conversations makes it sound like it was written by a 16 year old girl. I really can't understand why two "Greek God" like characters are battling over Jane, who has no personality except to be a spoiled brat. You've got FBI, SEAL, CIA, police type characters but nobody can figure anything out for themselves, they have to have Bonnie's ghost solve it all for them. None of them work together, they just run around on their own getting in each other's way and keeping everyone else in the dark. If I have to read one more time, a character tells someone "I've found out something important.....but I won't tell you yet".....It's kind of ridiculous. All everyone talks about is how "special" Eve is.....really? Why? She's also kind of a spoiled brat who has only cared about finding Bonnie and now that she has, there's no personality or story left. I fail to see why everyone who meets her is just so mesmerized by her.
